Ville de Saint-Quentin

The ‘BUL’ is now open

Saint-Quentin’s new ‘Base Urbaine de Loisirs’ opened on 13th September.

The ‘Base Urbaine de Loisirs’ (Urban Leisure complex) opened on 13th September. Its inauguration took place on 11th September, in the presence of Rama Yade, Secretary of State for Sport.

Its 12,540 sq. m. make it the largest covered leisure centre in the Aisne. It is located beside the canal, close to the railway station and town centre.

The aquatic centre has 6 pools, offering a range of activities: water chutes and rafting river for the intrepid, paddling pool for small children, heated pools with water jets and geysers, and a pool for serious swimmers. There are two raised beaches with plants and pebbles on which to stretch out in the sun and/or enjoy the view of the canal.

The spa has a solarium, fitness centre, weights rooms, two saunas, hammam and Jacuzzi. At the opposite end of the complex, with an ice rink, the temperature is positively arctic. The décor is in sprayed concrete, carved and painted to look like an ice tunnel, an Iskas village, a forest in Siberia. Nearby is the entrance to the bowling alley and restaurant.

These ‘leisure and pleasure’ facilities are intended for recreational use. Over 1,000 visitors a day are expected at the busiest times. The number of visitors per year is expected to be close to 200,000.
With its BUL, Marais d’Isle nature reserve, beach and mini-golf, its ‘guinguette’ (café with music and dancing), its new POP N’STAR audio tour (…), the town of Saint-Quentin is a very attractive destination for families on weekend breaks or longer holidays in the region.
